The T-shirt Diaries: Pop Culture - Buffy, Take 1

You knew this was coming. For those of you who know (and love) me, you have been waiting for this moment since I started a blog. I've just been waiting for the right time to try and convert all of you to the Church of Buffy.
(disclaimer: There is no Church of Buffy, I'm not changing religions, please don't call my parents)

I don't know when I started watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I try to remember the time before Buffy and I really don't think it existed. I don't even know why I started watching that show. Little Lauren was obsessed with The X-Files and Buffy the Vampire Slayer but no one in my family ever watched Buffy. I've asked my parents a few times and I'm pretty sure they're convinced that I was just born to watch Buffy. Sounds legit.

This is one of 8 (currently) Buffy the Vampire Slayer shirts I own. Before you start the Buffy hate, I'm just going to say, don't knock it till you try it. Buffy was one of the first (if not the first) feminist show that showed that you can kick ass, date boys, have friends, and still be pretty. Before Buffy, you could be pretty and kick ass, but you also had to wear a teeny tiny outfit that would definitely not provide enough support to actually kick anyone's ass.

Buffy taught me a lot more than any other television show has taught another person. I learned that being smart is cool, that you should always speak your mind because "tact" is just not saying true stuff, how to accessorize anything, that high school is literally on the mouth of hell, and that sometimes, boys are really stupid but sometimes they save you from ending the world. But most importantly, I learned that you're never alone. You might feel like the world is against you but you will always have your friends and family. And that's what matters.

It has taken me 26 years, but I have an incredible support system. I know, without a doubt, that if I went crazy and tried to kill all my friends, someone would be there, ready to bring me back to reality (or not, I could be a crazy girl who invented all of you in an alternate universe). So for anyone who thinks that Buffy is just a stupid show about Sarah Michelle Gellar slaying (and kissing) vampires, well, you're lame and your hair is stupid.

Buffy said it pretty well, in season 7. I'm cookie dough and I'm not done baking yet.

The other two key parts of my outfit... This skirt. It's from Forever 21 and from what I remember, it was less than $20. I got this skirt about a year ago and I absolutely LOVE it. I've been able to dress it up, dress it down, grunge it up or make it classy. It's tight in all the right places and just a hint of sexy. And short, you know I always love short.

And THIS watch. It's from Daniel Wellington and it's their Classic Bristol watch. It was love at first site. It makes me instantly feel classic and put together. I'm wearing a men's watch because I prefer the oversized look.

Bonus forced smile photo cause it was way too hot and I was sweating balls.
